Groin injury scuppers Rooney

Groin injury scuppers Rooney - Yahoo! Sport UK
Wayne Rooney has been denied the chance to be part of Steve McClaren's first England squad through injury. The Manchester United star has not been included in the 25-strong party to face Greece in next Wednesday's friendly international at Old Trafford because of a groin injury.
How serious is this? Giggs-before-Wales, or is it a real injury?

Boy, hard to say. Ferguson getting some revenge for basically being exposed as a liar about Rooney's pre-WC injury? Might be good for England though, give another striker a chance to establish himself. There just has to be a better option than Crouch in that squad.

  3. I called for it before the World Cup and I'll call for it again - Ashton/Rooney is England's best pairing.

Ashton is a better target player than Crouch, he's a better passer, he can actually shoot the ball with his feet (both of them, even), and he seems unlikely to trip over his own feet anytime soon...

As much as I'm an Arsenal homer, Sven made the wrong call picking Walcott over Ashton.
