Latest Update...

Five Premier League games called off - Barclays Premier League - ESPN Soccernet

After Hull City "assured" everyone that the ground would be good as early as this morning, they have officially joined the growing list of matches that have been postponed.  Here is the current list of matches that HAVE NOT been canceled (Yahoo! has actually updated the Week 18 Fixtures graphic on the Team Manager page)...

Arsenal v. Everton

Wigan v. Villa (although this one is in danger according to the link above so take anyone from it with a grain of salt)

Birmingham v. ManYoo

WHU v. Wolves

Citeh v. Rovers

I'm not sure exactly how to approach these.  My initial inclination is to push as many players from the matches for tomorrow into my line-up on the theory that there is the least risk of new weather conditions cropping up and causing post-fantasy roster deadline cancellations.

The other theory is that the longer you wait the more chance that the match can be saved by shoveling, plowing, etc.

I think I like the former theory most so I'm going to stay away from Wigan/Villa because it is up in the air and then keep the Citeh players to a minimum.

Good luck and stay warm (and a hearty "suck it" to all of you enjoying beautiful climates anywhere in the world right now)

Guess we won't be having an early live chat after all since the match (CHE/Hull) isn't going to be played.

Cheers - Neal

In this case, where there are so few teams to choose from, does it make more sense to load up on players from 2-3 teams (Arsenal, United, West Ham), or do you spread the wealth and pick the players who take kicks on each of the teams playing (Bily, Larsson, etc.)?

I'm pretty torn right now with my midfield. I've got Nasri already and 19.65 to play with for three more midfielders. Not sure which route to take. Mok as enabler and two solid middies who take kicks? Three fairly cheap middies who will all play? Any thoughts?

  2. Consider it sucked, ice boy!

Seriously, this news is so hard to fathom because I went swimming - in a heated, but outdoor pool - this very morning.

As for team selection, I'm with Neal. Focus on tomorrow. I've got Diamanti and Milijas in Sunday's match but have ruled out Collison, Foley, Spector, etc.

Otherwise, screw 'em all and let Yahoo! sort em out.

Jeremy - Is an all Arsenal team a good idea if do-able? What are the chances of that game going forward?

  5. I'm actually sitting pretty with my current team:
    Given
    Verm/Heitinga/Givet/Bale
    Arsh/Bily/Modric
    Drogs/Rooney/EdS
    7.13 in the bank

If these 5 games are a go I will Bale at cheap and only switch Modric -> Denilson (always keeping Drogs)

But of course will check in the early morning.

But as Gavin said, if you're going all out this week, I like the idea of using the Mok and using the rest of 99 to make the rest top quality players that are actually playing.

So...here I am, up late (US west coast) checking updates to see what's going on tomorrow (later today in England)...and I'm wondering: where do we go for info on revised schedules, on when matches might be made up and how soon? Because I'm pondering a whole shitload (that's a technical term) of action on the BD in the morning (after gutting a lineup I really liked heading into this weekend before Snow Miser fucked everything up), but I have no idea what the fixtures list is gonna be like. ARgh!!!

    yea, "chopper" time again.

to Anon :go to individual club website for more detail on the rescheduled timing. or go to premierleague . com . but remember reschedule game don't turn up immediately (let's say tml) . they need time to sort out the logistic stuff, meaning you have ample time to gather the info. so no hurry there. just concentrate on the next game(s). oh, and those clubs with postponed games already on their hand will have a cramped schedule later on. more DG or TG for us. and with some in euro games/cup games , its a nightmare!

4 games left... i can't hold my breath for 2 more days keep checking weather reports, so I sold off all ManCity players except Given. Still not comfortable with Hammer picks but don't want to change any more.

Dont know how muh i like it but oh well. Try to accumulate some points this week. Every one in my private league is far enough back where i dont have to gamble.

  12. I think the Man City game will also be postponed. Based on weather reports, the conditions at the training grounds of Blackburn (can't prepare for the game) and the fact the Liverpool game has already been postponed due to safety reasons, I see no way the City game will go ahead. All on three games I would say. As it seems from the repsective clubsites that they are confident those games will go ahead. Arsenal's game almost has to go ahead otherwise they will be left playing five games a week somewhere this season...
