Lots to talk about for this weekend but fear not, The Week Ahead will happen but it has been an unusually busy week here at Blog Headquarters between my day job and the festivities surrounding my 40th birthday (yes, I'm old). Maybe I'm just slowing down with age. Look for something Thursday evening US time or first thing in the morning if you're in Europe or Asia. If only someone would pay me to do this full time so it would be my first priority...
Cheers - Neal
ngog or eduardo
ReplyDeleteEduardo, don't bet on Liverpool because Benitez may choose to play only with Kuyt up front and leave Ngog on the bench. Besides Ngog is terrible and Liverpool just don't create much.
ReplyDeleteyou know who else is terrible as of late? Eduardo. I think it's a catch 22.
ReplyDeleteindeed. my best answer is "other." i'm going to try out landon donovan as my enabler even though he's not a 2-gamer, because i expect he'll actually stay in my team going forward.
ReplyDeleteActually I think Ngog pretty much has to play. We know Torres, Gerrard and Benayoun are out. Mascherano is probably still out. Is Rieira back? Let's assume he is. That leaves Aquilani, Kuyt, Ngog, Babel, Lucas, Rieira, Spearing and the new arrival Maxi Rodriguez. Liverpool play a loan striker, two wide players, a central mid and two deep mids (one of which roams a bit). Figure Aquilani and Lucas deep. Maxi (who will probably play ((and who I think should receive the blog nickname Pad))) in the middle. Rieira (assuming he plays, and he may not) out wide. Kuyt wide on the other side. This leaves Ngog, Babel and Spearing. Spearing has played in place of an injured Gerrard (who knows why?) in the past but it's hard to see him get the start after moving for Maxi. He's on the bench. Babel, when he starts, is usually deployed out wide and hardly ever alone up front. He will likely only feature if Rieira can't play. By my math, Ngog is their only option at striker. But then again, Rafa can be unpredictable.
ReplyDeleteArshavin+Defoe or Lampard+D'Ngog??
ReplyDeleteany thought about R.Babel?
ReplyDeleteI am holding on to Tevez even though he has only 1 game. All my other players are DG's.

verm/bale/corluka
Mtay/Krancjer/Nasri/Aquilani
Eds/Tevez/Crouch
I could dump Crouch and MTay and go with Sturridge and Fab but since Fab may or may not play I don't think it is worth the gamble.
Arshavin and Defoe, definitely. Both 2 gamers and Sunderland aren't that easy. Plus Ngog has a good chance of being crap.
ReplyDeleteany A.Lennon news? is he still injured or recovered? Otherwise i go for Kranjar who will partner with Modric on both sides.
ReplyDeleteLennon is injured, and I'd go for Arshavin and defoe if I were you.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Defoe carrying a hamstring injury and may not play??
ReplyDelete'Arry said Defoe was taken off as a precaution because his hamstring was tight. Take that as you will. I think he'll be fit.
ReplyDeleteArshavin+Defoe or Fabregas+Crouch?

@anon- team looks good but get rid of O'hara...last time I heard his loan deal at Pompey was terminated. What do you guys think, Palacios/Crouchie or THudd/Owen? Suggestions will be carefully monitored...also anyone interested in Carlos Vela @3.11?
