Injuries and Suspensions

Premier League team news - Barclays Premier League - ESPN Soccernet

While the link above is still being filled in, you can also check out the BBC's individual match previews for team news if you want to get the news direct from the source.  If you'd prefer some fantasy analysis with your injury news, here you go:

Out
  1. Sebastien Squillaci - hard to say he's "out" really but it appears safe to assume that he'll not feature until next week at the earliest so Koscielny's spot is safe for now;
  2. Heurelho Gomes - Injured against Young Boys in mid-week, he'll be out and Cudicini will deputize and is a strong bet at 5.87 against poor opposition.  He is prone to errors so he might not end up with the clean sheet but with a lack of other cheap options this week, he's the best cheap bet out there;
  3. Modric/O'Hara/Bentley - All are still out for Spurs meaning that there's a good chance that THud continues as the orchestrator of the Spurs attack with Lennon, Bale, Defoe, and Crouch around him and Palacios holding;
  4. Kolarov/Boateng/Bridge - Not a good time to be a wide defender for Citeh but the trio continues on the sidelines forcing fantasy managers to look for inexpensive alternatives in defense;
  5. Joe Cole - Just a reminder that the b@stard is still out serving the second match of his three-match suspension.  Bitter? Who me? Why do you say that?

Uncertain
  1. Paul Scholes - No injury here but the BBC team report for ManYoo throws in that Scholes "may be rested" in deference to his being ancient and all - could they BE any less helpful?  Hard to say what to do here.  This is definitely a good opportunity to give him a rest in a match United should win but they really need the points with Chelsea threatening to pull away early so I can see the logic on both sides;
  2. David Dunn - He "could" return to the side - not a great time to choose him (against Arsenal) but worth watching to see if/how he recovers - also worth it to understand that his return could push Nzonzi to the bench and remove a solid, inexpensive option in midfield;
  3. Gabriel Agbonlahor/John Carew - Agbonlahor came out early on Thursday (after 40 minutes) and Carew was rested entirely leaving the status of both up in the air for Sunday's home match.  It stands to reason that only 3 of Agbonlahor, Carew, and Albrighton will start so the status of the two strikers is critical to the viability of Albrighton as an inexpensive fantasy option;
  4. Mario Balotelli - Citeh's newest expensive plaything has yet to feature in the league and there continue to be questions as to whether he is ready for this weekend - probably best to stay away while keeping your finger on the transfer button once the Barn Door opens and we find out what happens here;
  5. Kenwyne Jones - You probably weren't going to take him on the road against Cheslea but in case you were, probably best not to;
  6. James McFadden - Can you tell we're scraping for meaningful injury news this week?
  7. Ivan Klasnic - Another one you probably weren't in for but worth noting none-the-less;

  2. Nothing on Defoe, eh? Does that mean that he might start?

  3. @Saul - the news this morning is that Defoe is going to try to avoid having the surgery after feeling good about playing against Young Boys.

  5. Damn, Damn, Damn!!! Now I have to choose someone else over Pavy, or take the chance in hope that Defoe feels something and comes off early in the game.

    Saul im also having trouble deciding on a Spurs forward id love Crouch or Pav but not sure i wanna take a risk. Defoe may be rested even if his groin may not require surgery since this is a winnable game without him and he can be rested to preserve him for more important games.
