Barn Door Insider

For those of you who couldn't make it to the live chat, there weren't a ton of Barn Door options that presented themselves today but I figured I'd send along some options if you have time to make some moves before Yahoo! posts scores:
  • Jussi - Foster had a better game today but Jussi has a better match-up next weekend (home to Foster and Birmingham).  Really though, either would be a good "get" while you decide what you want to do this week.  You might not want to keep either of them in the end but wouldn't you rather have the choice?
  • Bale - Did I mention, he's a stud?  If you didn't listen last week, you should listen this week.
  • Nzonzi - I guess we'll see how Dunn recovers but if Nzonzi continues to play then you should consider him for the price - even against Arsenal.
  • Malouda - His price is going up but you should get in on the action before it gets to Lampard level.
Honestly though, there weren't too many "finds" this weekend.  The best match-ups go to the big clubs next weekend with ManYoo, Liverpool, and Spurs all having what should be easy home matches.  Chelsea shouldn't be too challenged by Stoke at the Bridge and Arsenal and Citeh have relatively weak opposition on the road (Rovers and Sunderland respectively).

Why no love for Hat Trick Hero Theo Walcott? Too much uncertainty.  Maybe he starts but more likely he doesn't with RvP and Cesc coming back into the side.  My guess is that Theo starts most of the time at home and Eboue starts most of the time on the road.  I don't know if that's exactly how it will turn out but I can say with certainty that Walcott is not a guaranteed starter.  If you want to pick him up before his price goes up, that's fine but don't be shocked when he's on the bench next week at Ewood Park.

What is wrong with Yahoo this year???

Jussi's price suddenly went from 7.2 to 6.28... also Arsh went from 12.5 to 13.38... but there were no points added.

Dunno: I went up 28,000 places after Blackpool's points went back up.

I have Bale, Malouda, Chamakh and Drogba (3 assists?) and Alumina in goal so not a bad week. I just fear that loads of people have them so it won't make much difference. N'Gog on the barn door or is Torres likely to be back?

How about Elmander who had 1 asst and 2 goals, and good match up for next week?

  4. One worry with Bolton... other than their being Bolton... is their September schedule. @Arsenal, @Aston Villa, Manchester United. I normally tend to get these judgments wrong, but is what we saw today a refection of Bolton's quality or West Ham's ineptitude? I'm leaning towards the latter and would rather look to ManU who get the Hammers next.

  5. Jeremy- I agree, I think West ham are a real mess...I just don't know what united players would be reliable, maybe Chicharito would be perfect for that week. So far my picks for week 2 are looking good with...

    Foster
    Bale-Carr-Faubert
    Malouda-Arshavin-Adam-Albrighton
    Drogba-Chamakh-Carroll

For week 3 I'm gonna go heavy on Manchester United, Liverpool, and some Tottenham, Chelsea and maybe 1 or 2 Fulham players...maybe try out Gera for cheap.

  6. How's your team Jeremy?

  7. So far so good this week, Saul. Drogs, ChamWow, Theo, FloMa & Bale putting me in fine fettle. Dorrans and Kalinic at least returning value for money, I think.

Foster, Nani, Gardner & O'Shea on the Barn Door.

  8. every player almost returned to his starting value before the season.. so strange from yahoo. now i lost the advantage of having bale, albirgton, malouda, hart at a lower price than others.. especially bale.. so frustrating...

  9. @ Jeremy

i have to take my chances that this year, Wenger will rely more on Walcott. what does he need to do more than that to insure his spot??
i think Wenger will move to 4-5-1 with Chamwow being a substitute for Van Persie. after all Chamwow didn't convince. neither did Vanpersie, so its one spot for both of them. maybe the out of form arshavin maybe sacrificed. and playing Camwow on the right. Also there us no way eboue will play on Walcott. so i think i'll do on with walcott.

  10. Jeremy - Nice hunch pick on Walcott! I thought about it but the uncertainty of the Arsenal midfield led me away. Anyways Foster, Bale, Molouda, Drogba, ChamWow!, and even Arshavin came good for me. I have Carroll and Albrighton for tomorrow, Carroll being someone I'm excited to watch. On the BD I haven't decided who to get, I might just go for the whole Fulham side lol.

  11. Agree on Carroll and even like Nolan basically playing as a 2nd striker. Matchup vs Wolves next week should be favorable.

  12. Carroll and Nolan are going nuts!

Also remarkable -Aston Villa held to 0 shots on target!

  14. i finally had a bad pick this week, going with clarke defender from villa. who would have thought that scoreline would not have been reversed.

Simon Davies (FUL) looked like a cheap source of goals/SOTs down the road??

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Yankee Maybe, but not sure I trust Davies with him, Duff, Dempsey, and Gera seemingly fighting for 3 spots (the two wings and the 'hole'). The problem may only get worse with new signing Dembele getting an early run out. If there is more competition for the 2nd striker spot then Dempsey and Gera likely get pushed out wide more often impacting Davies.

My Fulham BD pickup was Stockdale with Blackpool up next. Looked good today and couldn't really be blamed for either goal. All assuming Schwarzer is still hurt or moves on of course.

Nate - I think Blackpool are going to be a tough prospect at home, it's on the road they will struggle. Fulham have often struggled away too so that makes me nervous.

I picked up Carrol but I could really do with a 7.5 midfielder - got Adam and Da Silva. Also not sure whether to stick with Alumina or go somewhere else in goals.

Williamson in defence for Newcastle got 2 maybe 3 assists and a clean sheet today after getting 8 in a 0-3 defeat to Man U for a 5.74.

  18. Hey Richard, I agree Blackpool should be better at home, but that may actually help Stockdale pointwise. Even with the Blackpool home boost I like Fulham for at least a draw. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

  19. why oh arsene why squilacci? 30 years old. he is a great pick, but need someone younger. he is also only 6' tall, why not someone 6'3'' or 6'4''.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @greg - Well maybe more experience would do Arsenal good. Don't know who Squilacci is but it may just work for them.

    ReplyDelete
  21. plus he's italian! I can't remember the last time Arsenal had an italian playing for them.

@saul - actually Squillaci is French, despite the name. The lack of Italians at Arsenal continues.

@Nate - good point on the midfield crowd. I prefer the FPL game with limited trades, and Davies may be a risk there. But when I field my Yahoo team for Fulham at Blackpool this weekend, I think I stick with Davies. With 5 of FUL's 20 shots against ManU, he looked like he earned another 90 minutes.

With a barn door open this long, everyone will have the same team at the same price by next week. This is terrible stuff from Yahoo this season. Values and points need to be updated after each match (or batch of matches played at the same time) in order for the game to work.

  26. @Saul, you're probably thinking of Salvatore "Toto" Schillaci of Italia'90 fame.

  27. i was hoping ciani would be wenger's choice for defense, much better player to me and very exciting to watch. he is uncanny in how he scores vital goals, kinda like john terry or koemans or de boer.

  28. Note to self: United cannot win @ Craven Cottage. Third year in a row I believe. Might be wrong though.
