De Gea, plus 10

We're excited too.

And so, just as the curtain falls on one season, we can unveil the first +10 player of the next...

We've been looking forward to having a new Manchester United keeper for a while now. This is the first time that a top club has had a new number one since... since Reina came to the league? Szczesny (and yes, I spelled that correctly without having to look it up) is a bit of an odd case. He came in cheap, but got injured quickly and had to play behind a less than top-class defence.

But De Gea looks to be the new man for United, and the first one out of Atletico Madrid as they cash in on some assets like he and Aguero.

  1. As an interested follower of Manchester United, I am quite worried about the prospect of David De Gea in goal. The Spaniard has looked shaky in a few games of late, and a man of his youth should hardly be trusted with stepping into the boots of a legend like Edwin Van Der Sar. As the Dutchman's successor, De Gea will be scrutinized severely, and I'd hate to see another young promising player be destroyed by the unforgiving British press.

  2. De Gea wont have to worry about stepping into the crusty old dutchman's boots, he'll probably just wear his own!

Fantasy-wise, De Gea was the goalkeeper with the highest average in La Liga last season. I personally had him for the entire fantasy season. With a less than outstanding defense in Atletico Madrid, yet still able to maintain that sort of fantasy performance, I'd say it's a pretty wise choice.

He made a total of 11 saves in the last La Liga game against Mallorca. Atletico Madrid won 4:3.
