Monday Morning Manager

Consider this an open thread for the "midweek" round of fixtures.  Right now Spurs have almost seen off West Ham.   No Bassong today, which is a disappointment.  Also I'm looking at Diamanti for the Barn Door.

Team news is coming out for the other matches.  Reid is MIA for Sunderland while Saha is missing for the Toffees.  Drogs and Kalou get a final run out for Chelsea - with Sturridge on the bench.  Birmingham and Burnley are unchanged.  Tuncay is partnered today by Beattie, not Sidibe.  Etc.

Rotation got you?  Who are you looking at for January matches, or are you waiting for transfers?

Good luck.

Is Modric worth a pickup now? When does O'Hara make his move?

  2. Spurs don't have a great schedule upcoming - @Liv, Hull, Ful, @Brm - but for just under 7, I think Modric could be a great pick.

  3. Drogba shot. Lampard shot. Drogba shot. Che are rampant! They're also losing 0-1 to a Gera goal.

  4. The other exciting Spurs development is a whole month of Gareth Bale. It's too bad their fixtures aren't great, but still, Gareth Bale! 5.54! He's a phantom points machine. You don't get many guys like him and Shorey and such the past couple of years, now that EPL clubs seem to insist on having dudes who can actually play defense at fullback. It's a shame.

  5. I did some changing this weekend and will continue to tinker as I loaded up on Arsenal and Fulham guys. Going to keep Zamora but am going to run with him and Diamanti up top with Klasnic most likely. Snagged Modric for cheap, going to see how that works for a week or two. Big gamble with him and Il Principe. Also got Milner and Roger Johnson on the BD, though I think I am going to go back to my old reliable Wes Brown. Doing that leaves me with an extra 6.5m to spend somewhere. Not really all comfy with Klasnic but dunno where else I can spread it.

Does O'Hara move to Spurs in January or has that ben canceled?

  8. Perhaps Nugent is worth a look. Seems pretty lively. Will he return to Portsmouth though with 6 players leaving to the ACN?

Drogba YC, will miss the game after he returns from ACN. Looks like he just made the decision easier for some people still holding on to him.

Modric's price has jumped to 9 after the morning update

'Drogba YC, will miss the game after he returns from ACN.'

yea, heard that too from the commentator. lucky for drogba that paintsil was withdrawn or he couldn't even find that goal. Time to get off the chelsea wagon.

  12. - Picked up Bale for 2.77!!! He's on the cheap!!!
    - BD'd Modric(6.98) just in case.
    - Bob G. - He's at Fratton Park until January, But Portsmouth have the option to keep him for the season (Which I would most likely see them do)

  13. Bale for 2.77 is a steal although he's SURE to pick up a yellow @Pool.

Wish I had gotten in on Modric...

THudd looked majestic in the middle for Spurs today... Took a few cracks at goal and easily could have had an assist or two. I'm not loving the matchup next week @Pool as Spurs NEVER do anything up at Anfield but he's certainly one to watch in the coming weeks.

  14. I'm also EXTREMELY upset that I kept the Santaman man in my side despite the managerial change.... two games and Roque can't even get on the bench for Mancini.

There's four and change wasted this week....

Thanks Owen. Picked up Bale and Modric as well.

I have Richards, Dunne and Verm on the cheap. Thinking about changing to 4 defenders!?!? Barry is just too cheap and then I can upgrade elswhere but can I really play with 4 in back?

Man City look different class right now - have just barn-doored Tevez and Zabaletta. I cannot understand McCarthey deciding to leave out their most creative player, namley Milijas, particularly as I'd just picked him for next round of games. grr..

    ^Shayan ,
same idea. bale's down to 2.7. will not recommend him atm, get him after liverpool's game as i don't think he's getting CS, at worst even a YC.

it is a Given that you need a good keeper! =)

Thank you Mancini, you brought Given back!!! All haill the Italian.
149.50 so far with 5 to go - Verm/Gallas/Arshavin/MTay/Eduardo...surely I must hit the 200 mark after they play. And, I will have 8 players left to play for the 3rd fixture...I hope Arsenal trash their next 2 oponents. My best double/triple gamer so far but it's not over yet.
@anon - I'd give Bale a shot bro specially @2.7. Besides, Tottenham's playing Liverpool...they're not looking so well. Didn't you see the Wolves game, they only scored after 1 player was red carded.

Is Carlitos Tevez quickly becoming Drogba's replacement? He's been extremely consistent as of late and already has 9 goals to his name, can anyone stop him from this streak? I'd say he continues and makes a mockery of Ferguson, this from a Man United supporter. I love Carlitos...his workrate and respectable caracter, always professional. Why oh why did Ferguson let him go, sigh!

So the assumption is that Bale will fill in at LB while AE is at AC? Any insights regarding SeaBass now that King is back healthy?

Yesterday morning I was thinking that with Drogba out to AC, there really isn't a must have player right now. Then Cesc came on the pitch ...

@inghabo - What about Vermaelen, He's owned by most of us.
Also, I really think Tevez has been consistent enough (has scored 8 goals in the past 7 games as a matter of fact)...it would be wrong not to consider him. On the Cesc topic, he seems too prone to injuries, I kinda like MTay better because of more consistency. Meaning Cesc will score 25 points one game and on another game 2 or 5 points. MTay will give you 12-16 points consistently game in game out...of course, there's always one rare ocasion.

  25. - King and healthy can never go in the same sentence. King and Woody are like human glass.
    - Bale at 2.70 is a excellent value pick. Takes kicks! SHOULD start while BAE is away. Seabass COULD also fill in, but unlikely as he's cover if any CB get injured. Between Woody/King, 1 of them is always injured so he's a fairly safe pick.

  26. Hate to throw an audible but I can easily see Corluka sliding over to LB with Hutton/King playing at RB because Bale ships goals too easily.

    Just something to think about

Drogba will miss the 1st game when he gets back...duh..he picked up the yellow on purpose to be suspended for a game he wasn't going to play anyway because of the ACN..so it has no issues on the drop or don't drop drgba debate

  28. According to PhysioRoom, Aquilani's injured again. That was some 20 mil well spent. That's why I never thought of him in fantasy football.

@Shayan: as much as you might know about Spurs (not being sarcastic), Harry Redknapp has already stated Bale will be the one to replace BA-E when he leave for ACN. Unless Redknapp changes his mind I think I'll take the side of the manager, doubtful Hutton will get a run in the side.

^pardon me for saying. Bale always look like having some curse on him ( don't think he has won games with spurs by starting; obviously i'm not a spurs follower!)

  31. Anonymous8:28 AM

Bassong can play left back too

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous8:29 AM

oh and admittedly I havent checked the latest news but BAE was playing through an injury (complete with pain killing injections), so there was a suggestion he might not go to the ACN.

And now Fabreglass is out for "up to" three weeks with the hammy. My point on the "must have" player was that if you had the funds to acquire any player in the league - Who would it be? No one player jumps out this year. Thanks for all the comments on Spurs defense options.
    (inghabo)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous1:42 PM

@inghabo - You're right about that, there's no player in the league yet that I would sacrifice 20% of my chash to afford but there might be soon. I think if Torres gets back to his scoring ways, he'll be the one to consider. On the other hand, that is the reason I don't depend on one premium player, because they're so inconsistent...there are so many mediocre priced players bringing in more than their value week-in-week-out. Example, Dunn(when healthy), Eagles, O'hara, KPB...I could go on. Anyways, I hope the January transfer window brings us someone exiting...I miss Ronaldo's flare, sigh!.

^ yes. which is why THIS season is way different from the past few. no more 'Big' players to rely on. it is the spotter's season. once that drogba goes off to anc, alot v-managers will struggle to replace the points. it really opens up the race( or if you are the leader, time for you to extend the lead)

every week there bound to have quite a few cheap players getting outlandish points. so it up to us to spot them.

    126 with 6 Ars / 2 Bol / 2 Stk - potentially 16 more man-games.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous2:11 PM

Yeah Im finding it difficult to pick players I trust to get points...for example Tevez has been great for a few weeks, but I dropped him a couple of weeks back because I was worried he would go straight back to his one goal in ten games form...regretting that decision now.
