Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi will be fit to play his part in the club's Intertoto Cup opener against Lillestrom on Saturday.
Kieron Dyer is still struggling with his hamstring and back problems, while Craig Moore will not return to training until Monday after his World Cup exploits and Jean-Alain Boumsong has been given a fortnight off.Teams that play in the Intertoto Cup normally have a jump on the other teams in the league as they will have warmed up with some competitive games. They also tend to fall off as the season winds on due to the excess of games and travel. Something to keep in mind for NUFC's early season.
It will be interesting to see if Roeder uses Milner as a second striker, and how he might take to that role.
Seeing as Newcastle have had massive problems with the early season several times now, that would be a trade-off I'm willing to take.
