VDV Injury Report: Might Only Miss 1-2 Premier League Matches!

Tottenham Hotspur could be without Rafael van der Vaart and Younes Kaboul for their next three matches - Telegraph

Important info for fantasy managers trying to decide what to do with the crocked van der Vaart (hat tip @FFLScout on Twitter).

Assuming that diagnosis holds through the team reports on Friday, my inclination is to keep him at 6.  If you have him closer to market value, you may be thinking differently.

  2. Good point, Jon. I've corrected Neal's oversight.

As for the substance of the post... consider me a skeptic. VDV has shown a remarkable ability to come back from injury quickly, but that trait seems to have led to him going right back on the trainer's table. He wasn't supposed to play last weekend but did, and didn't last ten minutes.

What if he is "healthy" after missing just @BRM and CHE and fit for @Blackpool on the 19th? First of all, that would be a remarkable recovery from a hamstring tear. Secondly, the next two matches, @Villa and NUFC are two days apart. Anyone else fear that 'arry would rest his prize asset for one of those matches so as not to re-aggravate the injury? I would LOVE to have VDV at 6-something, but I don't think I want to live with the uncertainty for the next month. And then of course, we're into the January transfer window and who knows what goodies will be heading to Eastlands.

  3. Great point Jeremy! I don't think it's worth it to keep him since I'm assuming by the time he comes back from his injury he might be @10-11.

Is it really worth missing points on 2 weeks, when you can just get him back for 5 or 6 more bucks? I don't think so, as a matter of fact I dropped him for the game he missed about a month ago and got him for the next game. Paid off as he didn't play when I dropped him, and when I got him back he only cost 10.xx and paid me handsomely with 21.5 pts. :)

The Telegraph report that Van der Vaart could return within the four week period required for a hamstring injury.
