Honestly, there isn't a ton out there that either hasn't been reported on before (i.e., player was injured last week or has been injured all season) or that is likely to have a huge impact on your fantasy team. Here are a few notes that might perk you up though...
Sylvain Distin should be ready to go for Everton on Sunday and isn't terribly expensive. Not sure if I'm ready to take the plunge here but having things settled MIGHT be enough to get Everton back on track. Getting PNev out of central defence will certainly help a lot.
Sotirios Kyrgiakos appears likely to start at centre-back for Liverpool with Skertl still having a difficult time with his jaw. If you're betting on a Liverpool rebound/return to normalcy, there are likely some cheap clean sheet points available for 6.16.
Cesc is injured for Arsenal meaning that Denilson is likely to have a more attacking role for Arsenal but given the opposition and the venue, I'm not sure this is the weekend to take a flyer there.
Otherwise the news of the day is all of the minor "old faces in new places" moves - Huth and Tuncay to Stoke (great moves), Warnock to Villa, Dunne (presumably) to Villa, Danny Collins (presumably) to Stoke, etc. All vaguely interesting in the real world but I'm not sure any of those moves is particularly interesting to fantasy managers this weekend.

Shawcross has a knee problem.. :\
ReplyDeleteAny word on whether Nani starts? The clowns at Eurosport say no...
ReplyDeleteHUGE conundrum - I have 3.26 to spend but really no where to spend it (Given, Givet, SeaBass, Verm, Milijas, Modric, Nani, Drogs, JDefoe, Roonaldo all at big discounts). That leaves Ireland to upgrade with the 3.26 but there don't seem to be any options (aside from Lennon)
My question for you all it this: Am I a moron to squander 3.26 or should I spend spend spend?
@Shayan, yeah that note about Nani also sent up a red flag, but I can't find any other source confirming it. No idea why Ferguson would bench him after how well he played in the last match.
ReplyDeleteahhh..the Nani issue...I have the same problem..I'm keeping him in though. As for the surplus 3.26m, I always go by the rule that if you're happy with your team then don't spend the extra money you have ( I have around 2 mil). Yahoo should make a stat where they show a dream team of the week based on points - I'm sure that the weekly dream team would probably come in under the 100 mil mark. So, In other words, keep your spare cash for next week!
ReplyDelete@ Shayan You could upgrade Givet to Richards?
ReplyDeleteCompletely unrelated, but did anyone else benefit from yahoo mysteriously giving Bosingwa 6 points this afternoon?
ReplyDeleteNo mystery mate, he earned CS points from last week.
ReplyDeletei thought he got subbed out?
ReplyDeletehe did, but the new rules this year say that you only have to play 75 minutes to get the clean sheet bonus.
ReplyDeleteoh wow i didn't know they changed that. thanks
ReplyDeleteYep I went from 80th to 36th - happy days.
ReplyDeleteESPN Soccernet hints that Anderson might start. Wouldn't surprise me. Nani won't have another day like that one again.
ReplyDeletehas anyone heard anything about gordon coming in, or is this just an unfounded rumour?
ReplyDeleteThe Daily Mail's match preview has Nani sitting..... SAF would be turning into Rafa and rotating for the hell of rotating (to the detriment of his team) if he actually drops Nani tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAre we sticking with Nani at a discount or swapping him out?
Gordon is likely to start as Fulop has a heel injury. Nani may sit... I don't know. I've seen those "Carrick and Anderson will hope to be restored" and "Ferguson may opt for the bustle of Park" but I have to think Nani starts. With Arsenal playing a narrow 4-3-3, Nani will be charged with keeping Sagna honest on Arsenal's right and trying to get in behind him if he can get him 1-on-1. At least that is how I'd play it, with Valencia doing the same on the right. Of course that means I'd play Fletcher with either Scholes or Carrick in the middle to hassle Denilson and Diaby.
ReplyDeleteBut what do I know?
Any news that Rodwell might start. Pretty cheap, just under 4.0
ReplyDeleteSeems everyone is up on Nani after a couple of good performances. Maybe this year is different with CRon gone, but I don't remember Nani being able to put together consistent runs of good form.
ReplyDelete@PeXXal - I was guessing with Distin coming in the center that Neville might go back into the midfield in which case Rodwell has a good chance to sit. Not sure of that by any means, just guessing.
@bean, yeah thats true about nani in previous seasons, but cron wasn't great in his first couple of seasons either. I'm gonna stick with him for a couple of weeks and see whether he will be a consistent starter and points provider. I can see a lot of people ditching him today so it could be a great scoop to have him at under nine all season if things work out.
ReplyDeleteI dropped Nani 5 mins before the deadline. Too many outlets agree that he's a sub, and I'm not sure it's worth a 2 unit discount to risk a 0. (Wait, isn't there a blog rule about this...)
