I like the approach- using low-cost YFF newbies to fund a couple of big guns. I'll be looking at a similar set-up myself to start off.
However, I think there are a few too many question marks/doubtful starters/unproven players in that XI for my liking. Naturally, preseason form/injuries/previews will help, but the likes of Nani, Bale, da Silva and Voronin may not be first-choice immediately. Why risk playing time with Voronin when you've got Torres? I'll be watching DaSilva closely in the run-up to week 1 to see if he can displace Adebayor as a starter. If so, he's in.
I like Malouda - good pedigree and with Ballack injured, he should start, esp if Robben leaves or sulks. I will also take a hard look at Julien Faubert at WestHam.
Forgot about these 2 - how about Koumas in the midfield, an Kamara up front?? I think Koumas will score YFF points through various means - SCs, assists, CW, etc and could be a solid cheap pick in the early weeks.
Kamara - remains to be seen whether he can hack it at the top level. He's already had an unsuccessful go-round with Pompey, but may be worth a punt if cheap...

What about Melchiot or Rozenhal at the back?

remember for some clubs its a two-game week to start the season! should be something else to think about when picking that first eleven
ReplyDeletemore pressingly do we have any idea when the game will be open? if i remember right it wasnt until about ten days before the season started last year.
