Kaka has me smelling like a rose

...so far.

BBC SPORT | Football | World Cup 2006 | Live: Brazil 1-0 Croatia
45 mins: Brazil 1-0 Croatia
Brazil's Kaka scores a stunning goal from the edge of the area with his left-foot after picking up the ball from Cafu. Stipe Pletikosa was given no chance in between the Croatia posts.
In a fit of pique I decided to pick up Kaka instead of Ronaldinho. Not sure how it will all turn out, but so far, so good.

Now if only I had the guts to make him my captain instead of the Fat One.

Why don't you make Ballack or even Schweinsteiger your captain today, rather than Klose? I am going for Podolski as mine.

  3. Give me a good reason.

So far in the tourney the big winners have been the strikers, Klose included. What is your reasoning to go with the middies?

hey Mr Spitzberg, I couldnt get into your group cos i "left it late to the party" but pity cos I'm on 170+ points at the moment so not doing so bad! Will you guys throw open the fantasy EPL to a private group next season?

  5. Ha! Well said, Pierre.

Much time until next season, but I would suspect that a private group (or more to accomodate the interest -- Wow!) would be fun.

Winner gets to (has to?) write the blog?

  6. Dmer: Klose with 8pts, Ballack 3 and Bastian with .5. Wish they all had more, but I'm sure glad Santa Klose was my captain.

    Jeremy,

A reason to have Ballack over Klose as fantasy captain - Klose will not score all the goals for Germany, they will certainly be shared among Ballack, Schweinsteiger, Klose and Podolski.

On hindsight, Klose over Ballack earned you 5 more pts but for me, I would certainly take a chance of a breakthrough performance by fitness-returning Ballack.

  8. Dmer -

While I agree with your statement that the goals will be shared, I don't see how that makes picking Klose a worse option than Ballack?

In fact, after watching the Poland game, I'm more convinced that Klose was the right pick. Schweinsteiger maybe second as he takes kicks (and I'm a sucker for that, even in this game where it hardly matters) but Klose was by far the most likely player (save for Neuville *grin*) to score.

Ballack will get better as he gets healthier and fitter, but look for Klose to remain the man for the German side.

PS. Hell, your best bet may be Lahm! Get's defensive pts and takes a few cracks at goal per game. I'm looking forward to his playing for Chelsea next season! ;-)
