Liverpool have completed the signing of Blackburn striker Craig Bellamy on a four-year contract.That didn't take long, did it? Wake up call for ManU and Arsenal. Gonna be another tough race for for the coveted CL spots, if not the Championship. More thoughts here.
The 26-year-old Welsh international sealed the deal, which is thought to be in the region of £6m, 24 hours after passing a medical.

If Bellamy can stay healty the rotation of Bellamy, Crouch, Fowler and Cisse (if/when he comes back from the leg injury) provides both a lot of fire power as well as a variety of options from speed in Bellamy and Cisse, to height in Crouch, to clinical finishing with Fowler.
ReplyDeleteOf course it would be better to get all that with just two players but that doesn't happen too often.
If ManYoo doesn't find a midfield soon, they might be looking at the 4th spot this year.
Chelsea are clearly better than last year.
Arsenal can only get better as their youngsters get more PT.
Liverpool has improved themselves.
ManYoo, not so much...
Bellamy has great skill, no doubt. But is Rafa the right coach to keep B.'s wild side in check?

I don't like Bellamy's wild side either. I'm not sure he'll do well at Pool.
ReplyDeleteAlso, United haven't improved yet in this transfer market, but I think that they are the biggest threat at Chelsea's title.
I don't think Liverpool are serious contenders yet and Arsenal have definitely become a better team over the Summer with Rosicky and the young players getting a bit older, but I still see them coming 3rd/4th this year again.
United have RooRoo and Saha upfront and C Ronaldo on the wing. Their defense and keeper are looking good. Giggs and Scholes will be playing next year but they're getting a bit old. JS Park is a waste of time.
I think MU will do well because of Saha and Rooney up front. Rooney is just a lethal player and he's a winner. If you United get a good right-mid and central midfielder they'll be a real threat to Chelsea. Perhaps they also need another good defender, but overall they're looking good.
BTW - I don't support United. I support Fulham, but I think MU will do well because of Rooney. Liverpool will probably drop down the table a bit (even with Gerrard - one of the top 5 players in the world IMO) and Newcastle will go up a bit. I think it will finish something like this next year:
