Coffee(c) Talk with Linda Richmond
Roy Keane breaks his metatarsal, or more specifically, Luis Garcia breaks Keane's foot.
Will this be a blessing in disguise for the Red Devils? Discuss.
I say yes, if SAF uses it as an excuse/opportunity to move back to his old 442. Scholes and Fletcher should be enough in the center of midfield, especially with Ronaldo and Giggs/Park on the wings and Rooney and RvN playing in tandem.
At some point, SAF will have to take a leap of faith on his defence (even with their injured full-backs) and go for some games in the EPL. If he does, then I think the goals and wins follow.
What do you think?

Personally, I think the answer would not include Scholes but rather would include Rooney at the top of the 4-4-2 midfield diamond with either Smith or Giggs playing off of Ruud in the 2nd striker's spot. I have my doubts about Fletcher as well, but there don't seem to be any other options at this point so I suppose he'll have to do.
ReplyDeletehow about Smith, rather than Fletcher? As for the diamond, I think don't think it will work for ManU. Or at least it would negate their biggest possible strength, which would be Rooney central, playing off RvN. Don't want to clutter that area by moving Scholes in there to step on Rooney's toes.
ReplyDeleteScholes is your link player (a la Pirlo at Milan) moving the ball forward or to the wide players as needed. Smith is his ball winner (like Gattuso, again of Milan. Or remember Veron and Simeone, etc). Then Rooney is in the middle of the park making runs, making passes and making the occassional mind-boggling play. And RvN can poach 30 goals a year from inside the 6-yard box.
ManU did not play well because their team is not good enough to beat liverpool...Even if ManU played 4-4-2,3-4-3 or all 10 play striker ,they still could not win liverpool...
