Alert: Charlie Adam Price Break
We here at the blog aren't sure how long whatever glitch is going on over at Yahoo! will last but for those of you who didn't get Charlie Adam on the Barn Door last weekend and are interested in doing so, this is the time. Some quirk of the database has reset his price to under 5.5. So if you want to take a chance that the team that allowed Gerrard 15 points (despite him playing in a deeper-lying position than usual and without benefit of either a goal or an assist) might give up some points to Adam as well then get to it. I'm not sure that I'm going to keep him but I'm happy to have the opportunity.

only 1 game in and Yahoo are having a serious problem this year. What a PITA but maybe good for some folks who want Wigan or Blackpool players (?)
ReplyDeleteM.Derbyshire got into the system and the prices were recalculated. I noticed that Drogba went even higher too.
ReplyDeletewe really need to find a way to get our own game built so we don't have to put up with all this nonsense (although there is sort of a twisted sense of "you never know what's going to happen next" that requires managers stay on their toes).
ReplyDeleteneal, instead of building one, why not take one over that isn't doing very well, the FACEBOOK, one comes to mind. i am sure they will jump at the chance to get more and more regular users, through a functional fantasy game. i played theirs, last year and it was not enjoyable. you could make the scoring similar to yahoo's, just giving an assist for a player causing a penalty, is the only addition, i would have, as well as, no barn door.
ReplyDeleteWhat did Charlie Adam's price rise to after the first game? If it was more than 2 mill then I may think about nabbing him..but playing against the Arse I just can't see him getting too many points...mind you, I said that about the whole of the Blackpool team an look what happened there!!
ReplyDeleteKetz- his price went from 5.43 to 6.67 or someting like that. Although now too bad, it still makes a difference!
ReplyDeleteI lost my points that C. Adam earned. Also, Bosselli. About 15 points in total. This is messed up.
ReplyDeleteRegarding starting your own game...S11 attempted to start their own game last season (I think it was last year to the year before), but had to postpone it recently due to the amount of money it was costing to run it.
ReplyDeleteOn another note in a move that I can assume be money or manpower related...what is up with Yahoo canceling the Serie A and Ligue 1 games this year? I know they may not be popular in these parts, but I (and others I know) enjoyed them a lot. I was really looking forward to the Serie A game this season. Neal or Jeremy do you have any insight as to what happen with them? Strangely La Liga is still running.
mark are you sure both serie a and ligue 1 are cancelled? serie a had more players than la liga, with french league way behind. i would rather play the german league than all of the other ones.
ReplyDeletethe french league has played 2 rounds, so it looks like they are cancelled, but italy has not started yet. this reminds me, of when, yahoo dropped MLS. they didn't tell anyone, it just stopped appearing.
I gotta say I really prefer the official game on the Premier League site at this point. Yeah, there are no phantom points, but updates are quick and certain, and there's still plenty to obsess over. The restriction on trading players adds another dimension to the game that I don't find unwelcome.
ReplyDelete@Chris O. - the official FPL game has grown on me as well. I was trying it out last year and getting much more into it this year. I always thought it was too simple with much less scoring complexity compared to Yahoo, but it's as challenging if not more since you get 1 transfer per week, so planning ahead is essential..
ReplyDeleteIt's not just that, i've lost 20 points - some players points have been wiped off, while Captain Kirk is down to -3. WTF?!
ReplyDeleteSeems like it's just the players from Wigan and Blackpool... maybe they are re-scoring that game?
ReplyDelete@Greginho, this was on the Serie A game main page (Italian Yahoo version):
ReplyDeletePer la stagione 2010-2011 Fantasy Serie A non sara' disponibile. Il gioco tornera' nel 2011-2012 con un'edizione completamente aggiornata.
Quest'anno potrete continuare a giocare con i nostri fantasy dedicati alla Premier League e alla Liga spagnola
Translation via BabelFish:
For the season 2010-2011 Fantasy League will not be 'available. The game will be back 'in the 2011-2012 edition with fully updated. This year you can continue to play our fantasy dedicated to the Premier League and La Liga
@Nick Tee: Indeed! Kirk is at -2, and the other Wigan players in my team stand at 0 now!

ReplyDeletethank you, i will stop checking daily for the italian and french fantasy game. this sucks, because the players in the la liga game are the most overpriced.
Cheers Saul..where were you for the BDLive the other morning? You're usually a regular...busy? It was fun!
ReplyDelete@Ketz - Yeah I missed the BDLive, I had trouble with my computer...and worse of all missed a couple of good bargains, i.e. Albrighton. Anyways looking forward to seeing you there this weekend.
