ENGLAND SET TO USE 3-5-2 - All The News - Football365
McClaren, aware of the abundance of centre-halves at his disposal, is determined that England will experiment with different formations before Euro 2008.

With Gary Neville deployed as the right-sided central defender...
Huh? (and forgive me that this isn't strictly fantasy Premiership, but still) You read the first part and think, "abundance of centre-halves", ok... Terry, Ferdinand, King, PrimusCampbell, etc. And yes, I know Neville has played in the centre of defence before (and done it quite well) for ManU, but why move him infield if you have an "abundance of centre-halves"?

Seems to me that this is over-thinking whatever problem he's trying to solve. Lampard and Gerrard in the same midfield perhaps?

this sounds like a crazy idea. noone plays 352. it leaves the defence so weak.

its a tactic you use in FIFA or Championship Manager - but in real life, no teams play it.

It should be an interesting game, but I don't think it can work.

Or it could be one of those legend teams if it works. Like Brazils 424

Actually Argentina used that to rather good effect prior to the world cup. Heinze,Ayala and Sorin if im not mistaken. But you need "those kind" of defenders.

Anyway England might pull if off against smaller teams, since one of the 5 is gonna be a holding guy I presume. Let's just wait and see what Mclaren can do. Ok i know Steve "My-boys-had-a-good-experience-getting-bashed-7:1-by-Arsenal" Mclaren isnt all that geart but anything has to be better than what Sven offered. Right? Right? No?

Someone really should tell him that if you play three central defenders, then use your normal right-back as one of them, that really doesn't gain you any central defenders. 3 - 1 = what now?
