Injuries and Suspensions

So, did anything happen while I was gone? I feel like I went to this tropical island and had a crazy dream that Wayne Rooney insisted that he was leaving Manchester United and that the roof of Old Trafford seemed like it was caving in and that generally, the world was coming to an end.  Imagine my surprise to wake up this morning with a tan (so I know the island part was true) to see that Rooney has signed a 5 year extension to lead the (deteriorating) line at ManYoo.  In my dream, I also recall mentioning that it's always best to follow the money so my guess is that SAF and the Glazers realized that they needed Wayne-o and make sure that the money path led back to Old Trafford.  I still can't say I'm thrilled about ManYoo's prospects unless they can add some more talent to Rooney's signing in January or over the summer but at least it stems the tide of decline.  Making the quick transition to actual injury and suspension news - Rooney is out for the next three weeks counting his money nursing his ankle.

Here are the other relevant injuries and doubts:

Premier League Injuries and Suspensions

Not much news today that we didn't know yesterday. RSC is still a doubt for Rovers, but Nelsen may return to replace the suspended Samba. Captain Kiwi is only 4.27 and may be value for money if you are looking to replace Sagna. The big news comes from Chelsea as both Lampard and Terry are doubts for the Boro match. That would make Ballack (11.10) an interesting pick. And with the Champions League renewing this week, odds are Anelka gets the Premier League start, saving the Drog for "bigger" fish than Boro.

Bolton are struggling with injuries and suspensions in front of their match with Arsenal, but I'm not sure anyone wants to bet on or against either team at the moment. Ditto the Liverpool derby where Torres is fit, but Cahil and AJ aren't.

There doesn't look to be too many changes for the other bottom sides, though Wigan are missing are host of players as they travel to Portsmouth. Defoe is sure to play and looks a good bet.

Foster Injury Worries

Just as soon as I start penciling in my line-up for the upcoming season with Ben Foster as the backbone of my defence as ManYoo prepare to defend their title Foster goes and gets himself hurt. According to reports Foster has already had arthroscopic knee surgery (I believe it's called keyhole surgery over there) since the end of the season and he's apparently in need of more serious surgery before the knee is actually on the road to being 100% again. Looks like SAF is likely to feature EvdS for at least the beginning of the season if not the entire season.

Looks like the quest for a cheap goalkeeper will have to continue.
