Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will become a Real Madrid player on Friday, the Spanish club have announced.According to a statement on the club website, the 30-year-old Holland international is scheduled to have a medical in Madrid in the morning before signing a three-year deal.So the inevitable seems to becoming reality. We bid farewell to a fantasy stud, probably only second to Thiery Henry (though by a fair margin) as a productive forward over the last few years. He was certainly one of a handful of players that if you could afford him, you had to buy him.
Looking forward, it will be interesting to see how Sir Alex sets out his players. Can Scholes and Rooney play together? Will Saha shake the injuries and start terrorizing Premiership defenses again? Will there be a regular spot for a second striker in SAF's plans?
Stay tuned! ;-)
