Spurs seal Bent deal

FOOTBALL 2006-2007 Premiership Charlton Darren Bent - 0
Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Darren Bent from relegated Charlton for a club record fee. The England international arrives at White Hart Lane on a six-year £16.5million deal, beating the £11million paid for Sergei Rebrov.
No need to bang on Rebrov.

This deal has been in the works for a while now, and it is a doozy! Berbatov and Bent are a tantalizing strike-force. Berba King's skill, vision, and ability to link play paired with Bent's speed... and both good finishers! Spurs are going to be fun to watch, and a nightmare to play against.

The only problem for fantasy manager is that both are likely to be expensive come the new season.

I suppose this means Defoe is now surplus to requirements. I wonder where he is headed?

the inside word seems to be that mido will be the only one to leave this summer. the bent deal is in anticipation of berbatov leaving next year, better get him in now and have a year to settle than have to find someone in a year's time when you're desperate (and all the selling clubs know it). by next summer robbie will be getting a bit older so bent and defoe will be the main two (i expect they'll get given time this season to work together, though bent/berba is tempting i expect jol'll stick to playing DBerb/RK, DBent/JD) and he'll look the bring in somone young and exciting, as they have in other positions.

yeah that could well be it. If they achieve champions league football do you see berbs leaving though? well see what happens. Another thought I had is that possibly jol is thinking 3 up front, i believe they played virtually all of their preseason matches with berbs defoe AND keane so possibly thats were hes headed? i doubt it, but its just something i hadnt read anywhere else.
