Premier League Transfer Talk – Club-by-club – Football Transfers – Football Rumours - Telegraph
A lot of interesting names here. Of course there is a lot of intra-Premier League dealings being discussed. But what interests fantasy managers more would be players coming in from other Leagues as they come into the game at a discount.
So, who might that include?
Per Mertesacker to Arsenal -- Sorry, but doesn't he suck? Everyone is always going on about how central defence is Germany's achilles heel. We'll see how they fare against Argentina, but I can't see Arsene spending double-digit millions for him.
Rafael Van der Vaart to Liverpool -- With a new manager, Liverpool are going to be linked to a lot of players. Especially those like Hangeland and Murphy who have played for Hodgson. But Van der Vaart would be a great fantasy signing alongside the still-coming-to-Liverpool Milan Jovanovic.
Fabio Coentrao to Manchester City -- Of course. Citeh are linked to just about every player at this point. But Coentrao has made his name with a great World Cup with Portugal. He's a real attacking threat out of the back and would be a +10 fantasy signing.
Utaka to Sunderland -- Depends on where he is in the pecking order, which will likely depend on other's health. But he was a very cheap option at the end of last season so if he's starting he could be a good value pick.
Asamoah Gyan to Spurs -- Just what Spurs need, more players. But were he to be signed, and were he to win a starting place over Defoe he could be +10.

he would be great fantasy pick if he could break into the Gunners midfield
your post is probably more about rumored transfers, but these transfers that have already been done (which may have already been discussed) will be pretty interesting for all us fantasy managers:
ReplyDeleteChamakh to Arsenal (obviously, and has certainly been discussed at length)
Zigic to Birmingham
Jovanovic to Liverpool
Chicharito to ManU (if he ever gets play)
Hitzlsperger to WestHam (he could be next year's Verm)
Alcaraz to Wigan
hitzlsperger was always a defensive midfielder, but he has scored some of the best long range rockets.

@greginho - not sure why i was thinking he was a defender
ReplyDelete@Jeremy - thanks!
do you think guys like Petrov will come in cheap even though they were playing in the league last year? i'm thinking of how cheap Bale was, but maybe it's because he hadn't scored much of anything the previous year. but i guess that applies to Petrov too.
petrov will be a great pick, lets just hope he is under 7.5
