Givet signs for Blackburn - Not terribly exciting. He was a reasonable pick up late last season when he was dirt cheap and Rovers had some favorable match-ups. But because of that, his price jumped. And remember, Rovers kept maybe two or three clean sheets all season.
Coyle hoping Mears chooses Burnley - Mears could be a nice buy at defender. He had a reasonable time at Marsielle. However, I'm not sold on him or Burnley 100% - though I'm willing to be convinced.
Sears completes Palace move
Derbyshire completes Greek move
Two young strikers who will not be options next season. In the case of Sears' loan, it makes you think about Ashton's health and Jimenez's expected position.
Johnson joins Birmingham
Ecuador's Espinoza joins Birmingham City
City's Hart in Birmingham loan move
Birmingham have now signed three center backs to replace Ridgewell (broken leg), Taylor (age and having already been found-out at the Premier League level) and Jaidi (released). I'm guessing one of Dann or Johnson will partner Espinoza, a much more experienced (though not in England) defender. With Hart between the sticks it will be interesting to see if McLeish revamps the fullback spots too. With Carr and Queudrue the incumbents, that's some age and relegation-struggle experience. They do have Parnaby and Murphy, though the latter is injured, so there's youthful options. But it seems like Birmingham are going for the complete overhaul.
And with all this attention focused on the back-line, I still wonder what Birmingham will do for an attack. McFadden will likely get the right-side of midfield and he's their only Premier League quality striker. Phillips was tossed overboard by West Brom last season, Jerome has all the makings of a great Championship striker, and is Fahey really going to be the answer? They must have high hopes for Christian Benitez. Maybe there are enough options to mix-and-match through to January. Of course it remains to be seen.
