Tevez could not join Liverpool

Premier League: Manchester United Champions 2009

So Tevez is set to finally leave Manchester United. Evidently ManU brought some of the CRon monies to him, but he and (more likely or) his agent said, 'no thank you'.

This Joorabchian is some piece of work, isn't he? Not content with the chance to say no to Utd, he's taken the opportunity to rub salt in their wounds.

"He has a lot of respect and a lot of love for the fans of Man United and I think he would rule Liverpool out as being the biggest competitor.

"City and Chelsea probably would be the two clubs that are on the table.

That's either incredibly tone deaf, incredibly stupid, or probably most likely, incredibly spiteful. So Liverpool is too big a rival, but the cross-town team... that's okay. Clearly their motivation is not respect for United fans. Or Citeh fans for that matter. What does it say about the blue half of Manchester if, for all their "ambition", they aren't even considered a rival to United? This is about the cash - full stop. And to pretend otherwise is insulting. Especially when each time you open your mouth, Mr. Joorabchian, you prove the point. I wish Tevez good luck, and I'll be happy to pick him in fantasy team if he's starting in a Premier League side next season. But his actions have left a bad taste in my mouth.

And before leaving this point, why would he go to Citeh? One would think that they already have the small striker spot on their side covered with Bellamy and Robinho. Or if, as Neal has suggested offline, they are going to play a front three with SWP and Robinho flanking a target striker - most likely Roque Santa Cruz - then there's just no spot for him on the team. I guess if he's happy to take Citeh's petro-euros and sit on the bench it will just prove my point. But it will be sad.
