United manager Ferguson has handed the 29-year-old an additional week off to allow his body to recover from the strain of a taxing season and the added demands of the World Cup.Emphasis mine. Does this make Fabio a good bet for week one, at home to Newcastle?
"We decided to give Patrice more rest," confirmed Ferguson. "Over the last five years he has played an average of 55 games a year.
"This summer he has had the World Cup as well so we felt he deserved another week's rest.
"He started training yesterday and won't be available until into the season."

United extend Evra break
United extend Evra break
I would think that O'Shea is before him in the packin order. But he was used as RB in recent times. Against the Irish XI Evans played as LB and did a good job, although I doubt he wil start there in PL. So with Evra out it could be both Da Silva brothers, one of them with either O'Shea or Neville or even neiter and Neville and O'shea in starting XI. Comunity shield will probably shed some light into it.
ReplyDeleteDoes today's match shed any light on the Fabio will-he-won't-he situation? I'd like to include him in my team if he is going to play. Same goes for Ferreira. Thoughts on whether either/none/both will start?
ReplyDeleteI understand he's played loads at club level, but two games at the world cup is hardly worth more of a break, especially given how utterly feeble the french were. he was already on vacation in south africa...
