Sunderland v Chelsea
Wigan Athletic v Wolverhampton Wanderers
After our grand experiments at the weekend - by the way, please let us know what you thought of the Cover It Live application - we're back to an old-school matchday open thread for today's midweek matches. Will Ballack get the start? Will KRich make the game for Sunderland? Do Wolves have any players left? Other than Milijas, does it matter? Can Kirkland shake a dead leg (sounds like a terrible dance craze) for Wigan?
Follow along with us in the comments.
I'll get you started. Ballack/Deco/Mikel/Essien should play at the base of Chelsea's diamond becasue...
ReplyDeleteprobably because I have Malouda! I'm hoping Ballack replaces Mikel instead.
ReplyDeletemikel is overrated anyway.ballack can do an excellent job there, like he did for germany.not to mention adding more threat to setpieces and the occasional pop from distance.
ReplyDeletemikel = shyte
Looks like chelsea are just playing Drogs up top with Kalou, Ballack, Lamps, Deco and Essien in MF.
ReplyDeleteBoth Bosingwa and Ivanovic starting too...
I'll have my eyes on Lorik Cana... guaranteed start every game (the newcomer was named captain?) and has proven his quality in Marseille
Loved the live chat from the weekend. I plan on using Cover It Live on my Univ. of Maryland blog for The Sporting News.... I'll be sure to give you guys a shoutout (I also want to buy stock in Cover It Live.... it's brilliant)
Malouda benched??!?! And for that I gutted Rooney!?!?! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMilijas assist as Wolves put one past Kirkland!
ReplyDeleteWow, just when I was regretting picking Bent above H-Rod, he goes and scores against Chelsea! Didn't see that coming.
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously, what is up with this Chelsea line-up/formation? How long do you wait for something to gel?
Cana seems like a great option at his intro price. May be foul and card risk though.
ReplyDeletebtw, the Cover It Live was great
Thanks Jeremy.... i was wondering who got the assist on that...
ReplyDeletedb10truth scores for the Makems!!!
do I get points since my team name is "Tweeting Darren Bent"?

ReplyDeletebent/edgar or yaygo/mccartney?
ReplyDeletewish that was SEB finishing off that assist from Milijas
ReplyDeleteyeah, Keogh... not a household name. DBent looking great so far. Might still be value at 11 and change.
ReplyDelete"Free kick taken right-footed by Hendry Thomas (Wigan) from left channel (35 yards), save (caught) by Wayne Hennessey (Wolverhampton)."
ReplyDeleteWTF? With Gomez, HRod, Koumas and N'Zog on the pitch, Thomas gets the free kick? I hope that was only for the surprise factor and the natural order of things is restored next time.
Essien instead of Mikel at CDM finally. Deco seems pretty well involved.
ReplyDelete@bean - Ancelotti seems to be trying to put Deco in the shop window? Lamps looks out of it playing on the side of the diamond rather than at the point
ReplyDeleteN'Zog's gotta finish that
ReplyDeletebent/edgar or yaygo/mccartney? for gameweek 2?
ReplyDeletewow crushing goal for the arse against celtic.... lucky deflection off billy gallas' bum and into the goal for an away goal
ReplyDeleteare you everton in disguise?!?!
ReplyDelete@Shayan - yeah, I could see that, would actually like to see Deco go somewhere where he's a key player. Seems insane not to put Lamps at the tip of the diamond.
ReplyDeleteNujra, I think you go with Bent as he has the better matchup and defenders are hit/miss for me.
ReplyDeleteok great thanks jeremy. wolves seem to be playing well at the moment. is edgar going to start for burnley?
ReplyDeleteHow about the mackems thus far!?!? Please boys, don't pull a Hull, lol.
ReplyDeleteDenilson is having another strong start to the season
ReplyDeleteyaygo with SOT
ReplyDeleteHRod winning a lot of corners off Wolves. And he finally gets a crack at a free kick and at least forces a save.
ReplyDeletePoints is points.
its making it hard to transfer him out for bent
ReplyDeleteBallack you beauty!
ReplyDeleteShoulda just kept my mouth shut...
ReplyDeleteGOAL! Ballsack scores with Lamps getting a measly successful cross in the build-up.
ReplyDeleteballack goal
ReplyDeletewow. i had absolutely no idea shevchenko still played for chelsea
ReplyDelete@Jeremy - yeah, wish Lamps would've gotten that assist
ReplyDeletemilijas coming off? why?
ReplyDeletehmmm, Milijas withdrawn in the 55th?
ReplyDeletethank you frank
ReplyDeleteMilijas only lasts 56mins? WTF? McCarthy trying to lock it down? If so why so early? GRRR
ReplyDeletemilijas taken off so he can go 90 at the weekend.
ReplyDeletecrap. i mean as a fantasy supporter i want lampard to do well (alhtough i just took him out) but i wanted chelsea to lose this
ReplyDeleteand that's why you have the guy who takes PKs in your fantasy team. Lamps converts after Drogs was fouled.
ReplyDeletenujra, at least McCartney will be cheap for the weekend ;-)
ReplyDeleteBasher and Nujra...should've kept quiet!
ReplyDeletehaha sorry guys. so will edgar start for burnley

ReplyDeletere: Milijas - I wonder if his fitness is an issue? He came out after 80 on saturday.
ReplyDeletebaines bendter hrod
ReplyDeletethere is is, Cana booked
ReplyDeletehows HROD doing ?
ReplyDeleteAny SOT ?
Goals spread across the whole Chelsea midfield today. Good for them, not quite so great for fantasy. At least Lamps got his.
ReplyDeleteWhat's happening to my Wigan boys? HRod & Jordi had better shake things up!
ReplyDeletedeco looking good @ 6.87?
ReplyDeleteDrog with a yellow.Let's hope Malouda has a great 15 mins.
ReplyDeleteDon't do it Nujra! Deco will trick you with early goals into thinking he's worth it. Then he'll flame out. Just wait, it'll happen.
ReplyDeletehaha ok thanks chris
ReplyDeleteso does ANYONE know if edgar is going to start for burnely?
ReplyDeleteWhat was nice about Cover It Live was that you didn't have to hit refresh all the time or enter in the anti-spam word
ReplyDeleteYes, Cover It Live was good, for sure. Good on Wolves for racking up a win against a team that just beat Villa.
ReplyDelete@bean
ReplyDeleteagreed. now we've had cover it live, we're spoiled and don't liek normal comments
yeah, nice start for wolves.
ReplyDeletethanks Jeremy
ReplyDeleteadios everyone
Like a lot of people I had Gomez, Milijas, Lamps and Droggers tonight. I wonder about Lamps value this season on the grounds the diamond formation with 2 up front means he sits a lot deeper than in a 4-2-3-1 where he was played just in behind the striker. I think Cesc or Gerard may be better although in the latter case, I want another look at Liverpool cos they were rank on Sunday.
