Mourinho ready to step up striker hunt - Yahoo! Sport UKChelsea coach Jose Mourinho will step up his striker hunt and may move for Obafemi Martins after allowing Hernan Crespo to join Inter Milan. The Argentinian striker returned to his former club on a free transfer after failing to settle in London.
Martins' transfer fee just doubled. Somewhere in Newcastle, Freddy Shepherd is crying.
Meanwhile Chelsea returned from their pre-season training camp in America anxiously waiting for confirmation England midfielder Joe Cole will miss their first six weeks of the season with knee ligament damage.
And speaking of Newcastle, did Chelsea sell Duff too soon? Probably not with Robben, SWP, and Kalou still on the team. Interesting that Kalou is mentioned with Robben as someone who "can fill an attacking role" as I thought he was a more orthodox striker.
Kalou is at his best when he is allowed to play in a free role behind/around the striker.
ReplyDeleteSo might we see Kalou behind Sheva rather than the more orthodox Sheva/Drogba pairing?
ReplyDeleteIs Kalou ready?
Chelsea have so many weapons and so many options as far as personnel and tactics. I think we'll see them all tried out before the season is over. But damn, it's going to kill some fantasy managers in the process.
